Cellular connectivity

Cellular Connectivity ThatDoesn’t Depend on the Plant Network

Connectivity is where most remote monitoring projects die. The customer’s IT department won’t open the network, the site survey drags on, the SIM plan lapses, and the data stops. The AquaCore cellular modem package removes the plant network from the equation by default. Controller and analyzer data travels over cellular, managed by us end to end, so the data just shows up. And when a customer requires devices on their network, we support that too.

The case for cellular

Why cellular instead of the customer’s network?

01

No approvals, no IT gatekeeping

Plant IT departments guard their networks for good reason. Cellular means there is nothing to ask permission for.

02

Faster installs

Installation doesn’t wait on network drops, VPN configuration, or firewall changes.

03

Independence

When the plant network changes, your monitoring doesn’t care. The cellular link is independent of anything the customer touches.

What you get

What does the modem package include?

Hardware, carrier service, and data management as one package. We select the modem, provision the service, and manage the connection for the life of the subscription. SIM cards, carriers, data plans, and firmware are our problem, not yours.

The faceplate is a printed label, not moulded plastic. Same enclosure, same modem, same antennas, your company on the front. Your customer never sees ours.

Coverage

Validated per site, before hardware ships

Carrier flexibility is built into the package, and sites that genuinely cannot connect are identified up front rather than discovered after installation.

Managed end to end

You never touch a SIM card

Modem hardware, carrier selection, data plans, and connection health are ours to manage for the life of the subscription.

The honest exception

What if the customer requires devices on their network?

Some plants require every connected device to run on their managed network, and AquaCore supports that. Devices deploy on the plant network when the customer requires it, and the AquaCore Hub functions exactly the same: same dashboards, same analytics, same reports.

The trade-off is stated up front. On a customer-managed network, connection health sits behind the customer’s firewall, so uptime and support response when a device loses connection cannot match what AquaCore delivers on its own managed cellular service.

Frequently asked questions

Connectivity questions

How does water treatment controller data get to the cloud without the plant network?

The AquaCore modem package uses cellular data service to transmit controller and analyzer readings directly to the AquaCore Hub cloud platform. Because the connection is cellular, it requires no access to the customer’s network, no IT department approval, and no firewall or VPN configuration.

Who manages the cellular service?

AquaCore manages the connection end to end: modem hardware, carrier selection, data plans, and connection health. Water treatment companies and their customers never handle SIM cards or carrier accounts.

What happens if a site has poor cellular coverage?

Cellular coverage is checked for each site during onboarding, before monitoring hardware is committed. The modem package supports carrier flexibility, and any site that cannot sustain a reliable connection is flagged up front.

Can AquaCore devices run on the customer’s network instead of cellular?

Yes. When a plant requires connected devices to run on its managed network, AquaCore supports that deployment and the AquaCore Hub functions the same. Because the connection then sits behind the customer’s firewall, uptime and support response for lost connections cannot match AquaCore’s managed cellular service, and that trade-off is communicated before installation.
